Setting the Table
NHS Health Scotland issued Nutritional guidance and food standards ‘Setting the Table’.  This has enabled staff to review snacks that we provide. The guidance has also given staff further opportunities to develop a clearer awareness of healthy eating.  The nursery at all times ensures fruit and/or veg is provided at each snack time along with milk or water.

Should you wish further information you can access this document:

Outdoor Play
To enable us to enjoy the outdoors in all weathers, please can you ensure your child has appropriate clothing with them at nursery at all times; this includes wellies, outdoor clothing and a hat just in case of a sunny day!
‘There’s no such thing as inappropriate weather, just in appropriate clothing!’
Please can you ensure all clothing is appropriately labelled.

‘Snowdrops for Strathcarron’
We are raising money for Strathcarron House.  The hospice provides end of life care, and the dedicated team work tirelessly to ensure that patients and their families receive the care, love and support required at such a difficult time.
The children will be making over the coming week a special memory snowdrop picture for you with an attached ‘Snowdrop Pin’ for you to wear.  We ask if you can make a donation in the envelope that we will be providing- please dig deep for this worthy cause.

Packed Lunches
Please can we remind all parents in the tweenie and big room that lunch boxes must contain an Ice Pack.   This is to ensure contents of lunch boxes are kept fresh.  Ice packs can be bought from B&M, Home Bargains, Asda, Tesco for a minimal price.
Can we remind parents to label Tupperware tubs and drinks bottles.
The nursery continues to promote healthy eating and ask that chocolate and sweeties are not given in packed lunches.
We would like to create a ‘healthy lunch’ ideas pack that we can share with everyone and would appreciate your help!!
Please email in your healthy lunch box ideas…

How we are doing
The nursery endeavours at all times to continually improve practice; through self-evaluation we are able to identify areas for Improvement.  This has been a key priority for this academic year; staff have become increasingly aware of how we evaluate our practice and how we can take it forward.
We recently had our unannounced Care Inspectorate inspection, where we received very positive feedback.   It was highlighted how nurturing staff are towards the children and how passionate and motivated the staff in our nursery are.
The inspector recognised and complemented the quality of experiences all three rooms provide to the children.
We are currently awaiting release of the inspection report, which we will notify you of.
